Suicide and self-harm risk assessment, intervention and post-vention support

In Australia around 3000 people die by suicide each year and suicide is currently the leading cause of death of Australians aged 15-44 years. For every death by suicide a significant number of people are impacted, including family, friends, colleagues, and the community more generally. At Foresight our psychologists are specifically trained in the assessment and management of suicide risk and employ evidence-based treatments for people struggling with suicidal thinking. Our psychologists are also trained in supporting the survivors of suicide (i.e., families, friends, colleagues).

Psychological autopsy

At times it can be difficult to determine whether an individual's death occurred due to an accident, homicide, or suicide. In many such situations insurance companies and coroners can find the manner of death to be unknown, causing a number of other legal complications. Psychological autopsies investigate the decedent's life prior to death and the aim to make determinations regarding the manner of death and factors that likely contributed to the death. Our staff have been trained in the USA regarding this specialist assessment process and can assist families, insurance companies, legal firms, or others regarding how any individual may have died.
